The short version
Your books stay on your devices. If you sign in, we store what is needed to sync your library and reading positions between your devices. We do not show ads and we do not use third-party trackers.
Without an account
You can use Readserene without signing in. Your books, reading positions and settings are stored only on your device. Text recognition for scanned pages runs on your device. Nothing is sent to us.
When you sign in
You can sign in with email or Google. When you do, we store:
- your email address, so you can sign in and we can contact you about your account;
- your library files, so a book you add on one device can appear on your other devices;
- your reading positions, so you can pick up where you left off on any device.
When you remove a book from your library, it is removed from your other devices and from our storage.
If you continue with Google, Google tells us your email address and confirms it is yours. We don’t receive your Google password or anything else from your Google account.
Cookies on this website
When you sign in on this website, we set one cookie that keeps you signed in, and a second that only records that you are signed in, so the page can show “Account” instead of “Sign in”. Both last up to 90 days and are removed when you sign out. We don’t use advertising or analytics cookies, so there is nothing to opt out of.
What we don’t do
- We don’t show ads.
- We don’t use third-party trackers or sell your data.
- We don’t read your books or use them for anything other than syncing them for you.
Your choices
You can stop syncing at any time by signing out. To get a copy of your account data or to delete your account, email hello@example.com.
